Real Wedding: J & J

This wedding was extra special as it was for one of our own; our Marketing & Event Manager Jasmine married her partner Josh, and we were thrilled to be able to be a part of it. She may have dragged us all the way to Cornwall, but the journey was worth it! As you can imagine, food is pretty important to Jasmine, and so we put together a bespoke menu that nodded to all of hers and Josh’s favourites.

Coastal Wedding Canapés

The weather was… Cornish, and so the Launcells Barton team had to change around their beautiful Mill Barn from ceremony to drinks reception. Alongside cold Cornish ciders and fruity cocktails, we served canapés fit for a coastal wedding. Tequila salmon & avocado tostadas seemed to be the group favourite, with mackerel, horseradish, apple & beetroot blinis coming in a close second! We also received lots of enthusiastic ‘yums’ for our vegetarian canapés: crispy arancini and goat’s curd crostinis.

Rustic Barn Wedding

Jasmine and Josh chose long banquet tables from Stargazey Hire for their guests to dine at. As an intimate wedding with 50 guests, this brought a communal feel and ensured the reception barn didn’t look sparse. They brought the ceiling height down with festoon lighting from Veo Events, and the eye was drawn to their custom neon sign and rustic DJ booth.

Coastal Wedding Table Decor

Every detail of this Cornish wedding had been meticulously planned. Jasmine designed all of the table stationery herself, naming each table after Cornish sea life, and writing her own menus with modern calligraphy. She also wrote the guests names on Capiz shells, hung with a string so that they would double up as coastal wedding favours. We chose crockery and cutlery that would be in-keeping with the surroundings; sea blue plates, earthy textured brown plates and wooden boards for our famous focaccia.

Wedding Menu Ideas

Andy, our head chef and director, crafted a bespoke menu for Josh and Jasmine. Working with them to include all of their favourite flavours, they created a menu that is still being talked about to this day! The wedding feast began with fresh and light British crab, with avocado, lemon and lavosh. Lamb was chosen for the main course, but this unique dish also included spiced aubergine, samphire and crispy seaweed. Guests were given a choice for dessert - mango parfait, or salted caramel tart. Everyone managed to nab a spoon of someone else’s to try, and it was hard to know who had made the right decision. The mango parfait had a tropical feel, with caramelised banana and coconut ‘snow’. The salted caramel tart was served with crunchy sesame brittle, for a salty hit.

Wedding Evening Food

You can’t go to Cornwall without eating fish and chips or scones. So, that’s what guests dined on at 9pm to keep their dancing fuelled. Little scone sandwiches with clotted cream and jam were a welcome treat on the dance floor, alongside cones of traditional fish and chips. Although we have plenty of other options available, Jasmine and Josh wanted to keep the Cornish theme going throughout!

This special day was brimming with West Country Wedding Inspiration, from the colour palette and decoration to the menu. We’re thankful to the incredible Jamie Dunn Photography for letting us share his images with you!
